Le Pont’s founder, Mireille Agbossoumonde, had the honor of meeting the former president when she served on the interpretation team during the Carter Center’s 2015 Human Rights Defenders Forum, “Beyond Violence: Women Leading for Peaceful Societies.”

As those who work in this industry know, conference interpreters work behind the scenes, and their preparation and efforts are often overlooked. However, in this case, the former President and First Lady Rosalynn sought out our interpretation team to personally thank us for helping him (and the dozens of other scholars and religious leaders who’d gathered) to convey to the broadest possible audience strategies for protecting the rights of women and girls around the world.
